Basic Sewing Workshop
If you have never worked with a sewing machine or have not sewn in a long time, this workshop is for you! This workshop is recommended for complete beginners with little or no experience.
1 Session Workshop – 3 hours per session (3 hours total)
Here at Free Movement, we promise a small student to teacher ratio to ensure each student gets the assistance and attention they need.

- How to setup and operate a domestic sewing machine
- Identifying fabric types and uses
- Understanding fabric grain lines and how to use them
- Hemming and clean-finishing seams
- Understand different seam types and their applications
- Handling different types of light and heavy weight fabrics
- Being able to work with dance and activewear fabrics that are slippery
- Create a shoe bag or scrunchie by the end of class!

NOTE:
All sewing tools, materials and machines will be provided. Fabrics will be provided for practice in class. If you would like to, you may purchase our fabrics and embellishments online or after class.
Additional sewing studio time is charged at $30/hour.
