Installing Marley is a straightforward process when it's guided by the right expertise. Here's what to expect from start to finish.

Step 01

We Discuss Your Studio

We start by understanding your space, your disciplines, your schedule, and your vision - so every recommendation is made with your studio specifically in mind.

Step 02

We Assess the Subfloor

Before any surface goes down, we evaluate the condition of your existing subfloor to ensure everything is clean, flat, and ready for a lasting installation.

Step 03

Surface Is Cut and Fitted

Your chosen Marley is cut precisely to your room dimensions and installed - whether glued permanently, taped in place, or laid as a portable roll for flexibility.

Step 04

Ready to Dance

Once the surface is down and seams are sealed to a professional finish, your studio is ready - a floor your dancers will notice and appreciate from day one.

Simple Care That Keeps It Performing

Marley is one of the most practical surfaces to maintain. A simple routine is all it takes to keep your floor looking great and performing at its best for years.

After Every Class 🧹

Dry Sweep or Dust Mop

A quick pass with a dry dust mop removes surface debris, shoe residue, and any particles that accumulate through the day - keeping the surface clean and consistent underfoot.

Weekly 🪣

Damp Mop with pH-Neutral Cleaner

Use a lightly dampened mop with a pH-neutral dance floor cleaner to lift any built-up residue. Avoid solvent-based or abrasive products - they're not needed and can affect the surface finish over time.

Periodically 🔍

Check Edges and Seams

Inspect taped edges and seams to make sure they're sitting flat and secure. Catching minor lifting early keeps the surface safe and maintains its clean, professional appearance.

Questions We Hear All the Time

A few of the things studios ask us most often when they're exploring Marley flooring for the first time.

Do I need a sprung floor underneath?
A sprung subfloor is a wonderful complement to Marley - and the two together create a truly exceptional studio environment. The Marley handles the surface experience: the grip, texture, and glide. A sprung system adds meaningful shock absorption that supports dancers' joints across years of training. We'd always encourage the combination where the space and budget allow.
Can it go over my existing floor?
In most cases, absolutely. Marley installs beautifully over concrete, timber, and many existing vinyl surfaces - as long as the subfloor is flat, dry, and in good condition. We always take a careful look at what's there before recommending the right installation approach for your specific space.
Is a portable roll a good option?
Portable rolls are an excellent solution for home studios or multi-purpose rooms that need flexibility. Laid over a clean, smooth surface with proper edge anchoring, they deliver a genuinely professional result - and can be rolled away neatly when the space serves other purposes.
What colors can I choose from?
Each mat in our range comes in its own carefully selected colorways - from the wide palette of the Studio and Vivace mats, to the warm wood tones of the Wood Grain collection, to the clean reversible finishes of the Freedom and Reversible mats. If you'd like to see physical samples or talk through which finish suits your studio best, we're always happy to help.
How do I know which surface is right for my studio?
That's exactly the conversation we love having. Share a little about your disciplines, your timetable, and how your studio is used day to day - and we'll recommend the surface that fits your space best. There's no obligation, and we're always happy to talk it through at whatever stage you're at.
