Heat-Welded Marley Floor Installation

Our permanent Marley floor installations feature professionally heat-welded seams, creating a strong, secure connection between each Marley vinyl sheet. Using a hot-air welding process and a color-matched PVC welding rod, the seams are permanently fused to help prevent separation, reduce moisture penetration, and deliver a clean, studio-quality finish.

Unlike Loose-Laid or Taped Installations, Heat Welding Lasts

Heat welding produces a durable surface designed to withstand the demands of dance studios, fitness facilities, performance spaces, and other high-traffic environments, permanently, not temporarily.

Every reason to choose heat-welded seams comes back to one thing: a floor that performs beautifully for years, not months. Here is what that means in practice.

Professional commercial-grade installation standard
Permanently fuses adjoining Marley vinyl sheets
Creates a clean, continuous floor appearance
Helps prevent dirt and moisture from entering seams
Improves long-term durability and performance
Ideal for permanent dance studio installations
Smooth, low-profile joints for uninterrupted movement

Four Steps to a Permanently Sealed Floor

Every heat-welded installation follows a precise four-step process, from accurate sheet positioning through to the final flush trim. Each step is carried out by a trained installer to ensure a professional finish across every seam.

01
Step 01

Precision Sheet Alignment

Each Marley sheet is carefully positioned and aligned to ensure straight, accurate seams across the full floor area. Proper alignment at this stage is essential, it determines the quality of every weld that follows. No welding begins until all sheets are correctly laid and confirmed.

02
Step 02

Seam Preparation

A precision groove is created along the joint to accommodate the welding rod. This groove is cut to a consistent depth and width along the full length of every seam, ensuring the welding rod seats correctly and the finished weld sits flush with the surrounding surface.

03
Step 03

Hot-Air Heat Welding

A professional hot-air welding gun permanently fuses a color-matched PVC welding rod into the prepared seam. The gun heats both the rod and the groove simultaneously, creating a molecular bond between the rod and the surrounding vinyl. The installer works at a consistent pace along the full seam length for an even, uninterrupted weld.

04
Step 04

Precision Trimming

Once the welding rod has set and cooled, the excess rod material is trimmed flush with the floor surface using a specialist trimming blade. The finished seam is then inspected along its full length, smooth, flush, and virtually invisible at normal viewing distance. The floor is ready for use as soon as the trim is complete.

The Right Floor for Any High-Demand Space

Heat-welded Marley flooring is suited to any environment where durability, safety, and appearance are non-negotiable. These are the spaces it is most commonly installed in.

Whether the space runs daily classes, hosts live performances, or serves multiple disciplines across a busy weekly timetable, heat-welded Marley delivers a surface that holds up beautifully under real professional use.

A Floor That Maintains Its Integrity Under Daily Use

Permanently sealed. Permanently performing.

Heat-welded Marley flooring is designed for permanent installations where durability, safety, and appearance matter most. By permanently sealing each seam, the floor maintains its integrity under daily use while providing dancers with a smooth, continuous surface for training and performance.

Unlike taped or loose-laid installations, a heat-welded seam cannot peel, lift, or separate under load. The bond is structural, the welding rod and the surrounding vinyl become a single material. The seam is not a weak point. It is as strong as the mat itself.

What to Know Before Installation

A few important details that shape how we approach every heat-welded Marley installation, so you know exactly what to expect from the process and the finished result.

01 Note 01

Professional Installation is Recommended

Heat welding requires specialist equipment and a trained installer. The quality of the weld depends entirely on the skill and technique of the person carrying it out, consistent speed, correct temperature, and proper groove preparation are all essential for a seam that holds for the life of the floor.

02 Note 02

Available for Permanently Adhered Marley Only

Heat welding is available for permanently adhered Marley flooring installations, where the vinyl sheets are glued directly to the substrate. Portable or loosely-laid mats are not suitable for heat welding, as the floor must be fully stable and immobile for the seam to hold correctly under ongoing use.

03 Note 03

Colour-Matched Welding Rod

The welding rod colour is selected to closely match the chosen Marley floor colour, producing a seam that blends naturally with the surrounding surface. Minor colour variations may occur depending on lighting conditions and material batches, this is a characteristic of the material and does not affect the structural integrity or performance of the weld.
