Starting with Classical Ballet training in CHIJ St. Nicolas Girls’ School under Mrs Elaine Low, it opened up her pint of interest in other genres of dance. The year 2004 sparked the then 13 year-old’s interest in Chinese Dance. This was followed by a 2-year mentorship of Chinese Dance and Modern Contemporary in CHIJ St. Nicholas Girls’ School coached My Henry Ng Chay Kuang. She then continued her Ballet training in Dance Horizon Troupe Singapore and received a Certificate of Distinction for Ballet – Intermediate in 2005.
After which she came under the guidance of Ms Yu Li Qun for Chinese Dance as well as Modern Contemporary, and was given the role of lead dancer in the Singapore Youth Festival (Contemporary) 2007 where the dance item was awarded Gold. She has also danced in the Singapore Youth Festival (Chinese Dance) 2005: Gold, Singapore Youth Festival (Contemporary) 2001: Silver and Singapore Youth Festival (Contemporary) 1999: Bronze.
Continuing her studies in Serangoon Junior College, Sandra was the Dance Mistress for her Modern Contemporary dance team which was led by Mr Dan Kwoh. Besides dancing for school productions, she led her dance team for a dance exchange in Sydney Australia, at the Sydney Dance Company in 2009. She was also part of the Asian Youth Games (AYG) Opening Ceremony in 2009.
Sandra then pursued her passion in Modern Contemporary dance after having met Mr Peter Teo. While pursuing her Bachelor Degree in Business Management from The Royal Melbourne Institute of Management, she joined Singapore Institute of Management’s Jazz and Contemporary group DanceArt in 2011, and led as Dance Captain for the team in 2012 and 2013.
